You have the means to accomplish much in prayer

Key Passage: Hebrews 4:16
Speaker: Paul Chisgar
Date: August 10, 2025

They are a great family. In fact, I had seafood for breakfast this morning from New Jersey. It is good stuff. I tell you, those crab cakes. How many ever had crab cakes before? Good. I tell you what, if you put that crab cake on top of my head, tie my hands behind my back, my tongue would beat my brains out trying to get those crab cakes. They were good. They were very, very good. And so, hello to the family in New Jersey.

We have got to get back to the Bible now, right? Amen. Hebrews chapter number four in God’s word. Hebrews chapter number four. And we are going to start at a familiar passage. Many of you will know it. And then we will get to other stuff here in just a minute. Hebrews four. And if you are there already, would you say amen?

Good deal. You are ready to go. That is good. You seem a little quiet, but you are ready to go on that one right there. Maybe the gang sign got you going. I am not sure now, you know. But Hebrews 4, and we are going to start in verse number 14. Would you please stand as we read God’s word together? We are going to get to the very familiar passage, verse number 16, and really go off of that this morning. Hebrews 4 and verse number 14.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest that has passed into the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God. Let us hold fast our profession. I notice we do not hold on to our salvation, but we hold on to our profession. We do not want to walk away from our profession. He holds our salvation. We are kept by His power, amen.

But it is what matter of profession. Let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest, which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Now here is your text first. We want to focus on this verse here, verse number 16. Let us therefore come. How do we come? Come boldly.

Our messed up lives? Yeah. But he still said, let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Would you read verse number 16 out loud with me, please? Here we go. Let us therefore come boldly under the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

A couple months ago, I went to my prayer spot. I liked to go out in the woods, but if there is a lot of ticks and chiggers that like my prayer spot, I will let them have it. You understand what I am saying, you know? And so it was that time of year. I was in another prayer spot at the house. I was praying.

And I could not find my prayer list. And I looked everywhere. Now, if I asked my wife, I looked for 30 minutes, if I had asked my wife, she probably could have said, you know, it is right there, and I would have found it, you know, and mixed emotions. I am happy, I found it, but I am mad at her because I am looking for 20 minutes, could not find it. Anybody else out there? Wives? Anybody out there saying, that is not fair. We helped you out. Come on, wives, yeah. And…

But anyway, I could not find it. And so finally, I went to a drawer where I keep some of that stuff. And I found an old prayer list. And it is a couple of years ago. I try every year, at least every year, to rewrite my prayer list at least and changing things, whatnot. But it was an old one. And here is the thing, when I used that, and sometimes I do not use one. I felt like I needed one that day to really keep me going and keep me motivated, get me into my prayer life.

But when I used that old prayer list, it was such a blessing to me that day because I was shocked how many things God had answered that I was praying for a couple years ago. It was a blessing to me. I thought, wow, that, that, that, that, that. And I was really just encouraged by all these things.

When I say that, I do not want to act like I am a great prayer warrior because I am not. I am not just not about me. In fact, I will be honest with the last couple years, I feel like my prayer life has been lower than it has been in a long time. And I am trying to be transparent a little bit. Anybody just run out of energy every once in a while?

And so I am not acting like I have a great prayer life, my energy. You ever just feel like you are kind of just dragging, you know, into the prayer, just trying to make it into the prayer clauses? That is why I felt a little bit in the last couple years. So it is not like, man, I got this great prayer life. We just have a great God that answers prayer.

And I would love it if maybe this Sunday morning and next Sunday morning that you, even these young people right here, everybody in this room would get a little taste that you can accomplish much in your prayer life. And I want you to think about that you accomplishing things. I do not know about all these young people. Maybe there is a young person here. Maybe one of you are praying or you would like it if your mom and dad came to church or got saved, whatnot. You know, and maybe your mom it is. I am not saying they are not, but maybe somebody, but a young person here has so much power to influence that through prayer. I really do. It may be your parents get saved or come to church because you are praying for that.

Every single person, it may be a grandchild that their life will be transformed. Nobody is going to know about it, but it is going to be because of your prayer life. See, the thing is, you have to walk by faith. You are not going to necessarily see it, but the Bible says, Thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But every single person here, you can accomplish, and it might not happen boom. Typically prayer lives is not a, you know, you ask today and tomorrow is there. Typically, it is faith.

But prayer is God’s avenue that has given us to reach up into heaven and God allows us to grab a hold of His hand and bring His hand down into this world. By the way, His hand can move a whole lot more than your man can move for it.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what our hands are moving, and the big picture is you get the hands of God involved, and He can move things. You can never dream of moving. That is why that individual will say there is no hope for them, those so stubborn, they will not listen to anything you say or do, but, friend, you get the hand of God in there, and some of those things, they will not even admit they have an issue on it. God can change that. As long as you get just yourself so wrapped up and you are going to make it happen, good chance God is going to say, all right, I will let you see what you can do. The prayer. Prayer is amazing. You are getting the hand of Almighty God involved.

I am reading a little biography of Hudson Taylor. How many know who Hudson Taylor is? Great, great missionary. There are many books. I have read, you know, I do not have many on them. This is more of a condensed one rereading it, and it reminded me this morning. I try to read a chapter a day just when he was a young man before he went to China as a missionary. And he got kind of just wrapped up. If I am going to go over to China and asked God to work in that country. He was not raising funds. He would not just go over there and depend on God. I am not saying you have to do it like that, but that is why he did it. God blessed and used him greatly, that is for sure.

But he said, before I do that, I want to see the hand of God move, and he was just really just dominated by this fault, this truth. He wanted to move man through God by prayer alone. Move man by God through prayer alone. That just, and he grew his prayer life before he even went to the mission field. Maybe that is why God used him to bring 180-something missionaries to China. See thousands and thousands saved and start the China Inland Missions and just probably would not die out of millions through the ripple effect is saved through his life. Because he learned to pray.

You notice before he went to the mission field, he did not say, I got to learn how to change man. He said, no, I want to be able to move man by God through prayer alone. That is power right there. When you are reaching up into heaven and getting the hand of God, he said the Lord’s head is not shortened that it cannot save in Isaiah 59. Prayer.

Friend, I am just saying if we would get our prayer lives, that is where we are so minute that God is not. And God has given us the ability to plug into His almighty power, the prayer. And I know myself, sometimes I am so wrapped up in what I have got to do and what I have got to get done, all that. And yet if you get God involved.

I remember years ago, most of this back here was woods. And there was one dirt road that led up to the plateau up there. We are going to have service on the hill the last Sunday of the month. And that was cleared out, but it was just woods leading up to that besides the dirt road. And we were thinking of clearing that out. There was rocks and everything else and trees all over the place.

And boy, if a couple of us men, we debated about, you know, go out there and try to cut those trees down and move all those rocks, it took us forever. But we hired a contractor. They cleared that out, cleared over here, and I do not know the parking lot, whatnot. And I remember bringing, they brought that big old track hoe out. You know what a track hoe is, excavator. And a big old arm and boy and it had a claw on it and it would take those trees. It would dig around those trees a little bit for a minute and they would take that big old big old shovel and that claw and it would just rip those trees out of the ground. I mean you did not have to worry about getting the stump up and it would just it would pick the whole tree up and just made a big old pile of trees and burn them all.

And I thought, that is how I am sometimes. I get so wrapped up in cutting the trees down myself and moving all the rocks. And God is like that big heavy machinery equipment. Prayer. Prayer is how you get God involved.

Years ago, I have not remembered the white truck I had for a while. The white truck, GMC, Sierra. And that truck, the lifters on it started ticking. You know, they start quietly and they get louder and louder and louder. And you want to like, I do not hear that, but you do hear that more and more and more, you know.

And now the problems with that engine, some of you mechanics out there, you have to replace the lifters on that engine. You have to take the whole top of the engine off, the heads and all the stuff. Man, you know, years ago, I used to be a mechanic somewhat, but nowadays, you know, and I was just a shape, tree mechanic and all, but nowadays, I mean, just, wow. And that was 20-plus years ago, and so I did a couple of things.

Well, first of all, how much would it pay to have someone do it, or could it just get a new engine? How much that cost? I was considering all this. So finally, I went and got me a book called the Haynes Manual. Any of you men, when I am talking, yeah, yeah, I got a Haynes manual, you know. And then I went and I ordered lifters and the replacement kit that came with all these, you know, it seemed like about 10,000 gaskets and parts and everything else, you know. I am like, man, what am I getting? YouTube can get you into a lot of trouble, folks. I think you can do anything on YouTube, you know.

And I got that thing out and pulled it up to my garage. And I will tell you what, I would open that book and I studied that book. And it said, take the radiator out first. Whereas people say a New Jersey radiator and all that stuff, you know, take this and that, you know. And I just, man, I just followed all this. And then how do you take that crazy radiator out, you know?

And I will go over that section. Well, I just follow that manual. And then I, you know, you need all these parts. And I am going to go over now. I do not think that parts of this kit. Sure enough, it was there. And all the instructions I needed and all the parts I needed to get the job done were there. And that is where your prayer life is. Oscar has what he needs to be effective to get things done in his prayer life. You have it. You have the manual and God has given you the parts, if you will, to get the job where you can accomplish much in your prayer. That person, you say there is no hope for them. There is hope for them if you get the hand of God moving.

Let us keep. Now let us talk about a couple of these. Number one, number one, look back over there in Hebrews 4. We are in Hebrews chapter before. And would you look up to verse number 14? We started off of this verse, Hebrews 4 and verse number 14. If you are there, would you say, amen?

Look at verse number 14. He says, seeing then that we have a great high priest that has passed into the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God. Now, high priest, this book is written to all of us, but specifically to the Hebrews, the Jewish people. And so when they, it says here the high priest, they understood, they knew what that meant for them. They knew what a high priest was.

And that high priest one time a year would go into the holy place and then into the most holy place where the Ark of the Covenant was. And where the seraphim had their wings spread and the mercy seat and he would go past the veil. They understood that the Devin Kippar, David Tolman, and He would go in there and he would take blood from a lamb and he would take it into that most holy place and he would seven times he would take it and he would sprinkle that blood on the mercy. They understood that. They knew that.

Now, that high priest going one time in the most holy place gave the priest the right. They would come in the morning, evening, and they would offer, they would not go all the way in, but they would come. They had the right to come as priest to offer up their sacrifices because the high priest would make an atonement for the nation and the Jewish Christians that believed in the coming Messiah.

Now, so here is the thing about this. Because we have a high priest, Jesus, he did not take the blood of a lamb. He took his own blood. He is the Lamb of God. He took his own blood from the cross of Calvary. He was a sacrifice, and yet he was a high priest. He took that blood, and he did not enter into a most holy place down here. He went to the most holy place in heaven. See, the one down here was made after the pattern. God showed Moses the pattern up in heaven. See?

And he did not go to the one that was made after the pattern. He went to the pattern, the one in heaven, and he entered in with his own blood, not once a year, but forever. And he offered his blood on the mercy seat in heaven. That is why when you come to Jesus Christ, you are underneath the mercy seat. His shed blood has redeemed you. It has paid for your sin because he is our high priest. Now y’all will be on all this.

Because of that, I have the right to come into the presence of God because I am a child of God. I have pleaded the blood of Jesus Christ. Now, look over, if you will, in Revelation real quickly here. And I want to just kind of get back to prayer a little bit here. And look in Revelation 1 and verse number 6, Revelation 1 and verse number 6 in God’s word. We have got to hurry along here.

Once you find Revelation 1, verse number 6, would you say, amen? Good. All right. Here we go. Here we go. Verse number 6. And hath made us, notice that us, His people. If you are born again Christian, made us, what is the next word? Kings and what is the next word? Priests under God and His Father. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Look over in chapter number 5, Revelation 5. And look in verse number 10, Revelation 5 and verse number 10.

Revelation 5 and verse number 10, and has made us unto our God kings and what, and priests, and priests on the earth. By the way, we will do that one time during the millennium reign. Here is what I am getting at. If you are born into the family of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, you are regenerated, you are born again.

You were, because Jesus is a high priest, you came in the family, you are now a priest. And Jesus has paved the way. He went to the most holy place in heaven. By the way, remember what happened when he died on the cross? That veil there in Jerusalem, it was rent from top to bottom. Bible’s always lived from top to bottom. There is nothing that can stand in the way. There is not a thread there left. No, it is rent all the way apart.

And now you have the right to come in because you are a high priest, not only that, but now you are a priest. Now, prophets go to the people for God, but priests go to God for the people. So here is what I am getting at. When you have a lost neighbor over there that will not get saved, will not take a tract, do not want anything to do with God, you have the right, the privilege to go in to the very holy of holies before God Almighty, and go to God and say, no, Lord, I want you to bring your hand. I am trying to bring your hand down and get your hand involved in that man and that lady’s life. You have the right, the privilege.

Now, the devil will say you are not worthy to be there, but you say, I am not worthy because of me. I am worthy because of my dad. I am worthy because the high priest. I am His son. I am a priest, and I have a right to go before the throne of grace and get God involved in their life.

That is why you may be the best hope your coworker has. I mentioned this so often. It just seemed like he keeps coming up, but I got to sit beside a guy on the plane, and he ended up getting saved. And he said, you know, it is amazing. He said, it seemed like everywhere I go, someone is telling me about this. And he had already told me, he said, my uncle prays for me to get saved all the time.

I said the reason why you are always set beside some preacher on some plane somewhere trying to tell you how to get saved because you have an uncle that is a priest and he keeps going to the Heavenly Father and he pulls the hand of God down in your life and is getting involved in your life and your neighbor might need someone to go to the Heavenly Father and pull his hand down in their life and get involved in their life. Victors do not happen because of all that. Victors come because the hand of God gets involved.

And so old, I think we won the last election because the people, Rutherford County Baptist Church, four years earlier, we had spent 24 hours on our knees on one of these two altars. I believe that. I believe someone pulled the hand of God down, got involved in our country. Prayer, friend, I am telling you, we are missing the boat. We are focused so much on our eyes, and yet God’s people that just shall live by faith and not by sight. We are not accomplishing what we are going to accomplish so often because we are trying to make it happen. And you get God there and he makes it happen. Finances, child rearing, marriage, all in and on down the line prayer.

I am telling you, you can accomplish much in your, you say, I am, by the way, God is no respecter of person. I have no special thing in prayer. You can pray to God just say, but I am a priest just like you are a priest before God. But you have access. You have a right to come because you are a priest through our high priest, Jesus Christ.

Let us look at something else, if you would, please. Number one, we said you have a right because you are a priest through Jesus Christ. Look in Hebrews chapter number nine. We are going to look at two different places here real quickly. Hebrews 9.

I really want you to see the last part of this verse here, Hebrews 9 and verse number 24. I am praying that the Holy Spirit would convince you every single person here. Young people, yes, older people. Let me rephrase that, wiser people, amen. By the way, sometimes folks that are retired from their normal schedule, they are still busy, understand. You have a little extra time and prayer is such a wise way to spend it. Oh, so very, very important.

We may be moving on to that new property over there because Brother Tim goes to the nursing homes and somebody in that nursing home has been praying for that for years. And we will not know about that until we get to heaven. But, friend, I am telling you great things happen because somebody is praying.

Hebrews 9, look at verse number 24, please. Hebrews 9 and verse number 24, please. For Christ enter not into the holy places made with hands. He is saying, it was not the ones down here on earth. There is one in heaven. Which are the figures of the truth. But into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God, what is the last two words? For us.

Does that have to do with salvation? Yes. Does that have to do with after salvation? Yes. Does that have to do with tomorrow when you take a walk out behind your house and your depression and you are praying? Yes. Now with that thought, Jesus entered into the most holy place in heaven, not the one down here, but in heaven, before the presence of God for us.

With that thought, look over if you would please in Romans chapter number one. Romans chapter number one. We are going to look at the same truth but a little different angle and expanded in some ways. Romans chapter 8.

We are about to read what I think may be the greatest prayer promise in all the Bible, Romans 8. And we are going to start in verse number 31. Acts, Acts. Romans. Somebody said, well, he is changing on us here. Romans chapter number 8, come to night, we will preach them. God never changes. Pastor does sometimes, but…

Got a suit this week, and unfortunately, belt sizes and pants sizes change. There is your whole shrink. That is the problem now, you know. God does not change, what pastors do. Do not shake your head. Yes over there. Come on. I saw that, Miss Tammy. I saw that.

Look at Romans 8. Look at verse number 31. What shall we say then to these things if God be for us who can be against us? I like that. Here may be the greatest prayer promise in all the Bible, verse number 32, he that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all. How shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Wow.

Notice the emphasis with him. Really give us all things. That thing you think is impossible. Friend with God, it is not impossible.

Verse number 33, who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justify it. Who is He that condemned it? It is Christ that died, yea, rather that has risen, who is even at the right hand of God. Notice that right hand of God, who also maketh intercession. Watch the next two words. For us.

Does that have to do with salvation? Yes. Does that have to do with after salvation? Yes. We had the privilege in December of 2019 to buy that property over there. Some, not all of them. Brother Mark Hardy works in the city, not all of them, but some in the city was not happy with a church buying that property. Some of them openly told me they had envisioned a grocery store there. You get more revenue from a grocery store, and people do not have to make all the traffic going all the way across the interstate to go to a grocery store. They wanted a grocery store there.

And so they were not real happy with us, some in the city, buying that property. They had other things in mind being at that location. And so we had bought it, and I was going to try to kind of warm back up to them because they can make life hard for you when you build a building. You understand what I am talking about.

So we had a Christian developer, by the bay, he will be with us on October 24 that evening. But we had a developer, and he knew the higher-ups in Smyrna and really the head honcho at that time over that, you know, planning and whatnot. And so I was talking with him, and he set a meeting up with myself and him and the head honcho was morning at the time as far as planning.

And so we met, and I could tell he was irritated with me at first. And he in, not fully rude, but in his own way, he let me know he was not happy about things. And I felt like the Holy Spirit kept telling me in that meeting over and over again, Paul, just be quiet. Preachers have a hard time with that, you know?

But for the most part, I was just quiet at the first part of the meeting. And this developer that knew him, they knew each other, they had worked many deals together before. He would kind of stick up for me a bit, and then they had a deal they were working on. He was going to give a certain amount of land to the city to build a little fire station, fire department there in order for them to get this. And that is the way of those things work. I am not saying it is Rome, just the way it works.

Have you given that land to the city for a fire station there, then he was going to give them permission to build, develop this land and whatnot. And they are more, and I just kind of sat there in the meeting. We are in a conference room and us three. But as it went on, and they talked more about their deal, and every once in a while, he would kind of look over at me and whatnot, and the developer would always kind of keep me all in favor of this guy.

And he softened as the meeting went on towards the end of the meeting, we were able to openly talk with each other about the situation. Now, I tell that story to say, Jesus is at the right hand of the Father and is interceding for you. So when you go to prayer before God, you are not just going along into the most holy place before the throne of grace. Jesus is there a setting.

Who! Somebody told me about, who was it? Someone that won an award or racing, I think it was, or something I just heard about this morning and he was standing in where he won and then he went to get off his trip got his legs got tripped and he fell and broke his collarbone so almost did that this morning what about that now you know but anyway now where was I at in the story now you know you can breathe again I did not fall praise a little for that right there you know

But when you go to God, the Father is here, if you will, and Jesus is on the right hand of the Father. He is interceding for you. So when you are in that throne, you think, well, I have got to go and pray on my own. I am going to drag myself in that prayer closet or wherever it may be and spend some time to the Lord on the way to work in the car along.

And you go to the throne of grace, you are not going alone. Jesus is there and he is sitting on the right end of the Father and is interceding. Yes, about salvation, but not just about salvation about that prayers that you have. And Satan says, hey, Father, they are not worthy of that answer to prayer. They ought not be grabbed a hold of your hand and bring it down in their life of so-and-so in their own life. They do not deserve that.

And Jesus says, Father, they do not deserve that on their own merit, but they do deserve that by my merit. And they are asking the name of Jesus. And by the grace, by the way, did you notice it is the throne of grace? And I have paid for that God’s riches at Christ’s expense. And Jesus is interceding for you in your prayer life.

That is why I say these young folk over here can be effective in their prayer life because when they go to pray, Jesus, if they are born again Christian, born again Christian, Jesus is setting on the right hand of the Father interceding for them. You too. You understand when you pray.

There are so many things that are transpiring. Someone said if we could see into the spirit realm, we would never leave our knees. That is where the real victories come. Someone pray. Jesus, when you pray, is up in heaven, sitting on the right hand of the Father. He ever liveth to make intercession for you so you are not praying alone. I just want you to try to get it. You can accomplish so much in your prayer life. You have the right to go, your priest if you are born again. Jesus is setting on the right hand of the Father, He interceding for you.

And let us look at something else just briefly here, would you please? One more thing. Would you go back over there to Romans 8? Romans 8. And I want you to bump up a couple of verses. I want you to bump up to verse number 26, Romans 8, and look at verse number 26. Romans 8 and verse number 26.

Right there he says, likewise the Spirit, capital S, the Holy Spirit, likewise the Spirit, New Testament, likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought. But the Spirit itself maketh intercession, what is the next two words? For us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts, knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

It is God’s will that he does that. So when you go into your prayer room, a throne of grace, you enter into prayer closet, you are asking God for things. Jesus is there. He is sitting on the right hand of the Father.

Not only that, but when you come, the Holy Spirit, if you are born again, where is the temple of God at? Where is that? Our body. So when I go to prayer, God the Father is there, far from here, Jesus will be on the right hand, and I have the Holy Spirit inside of me and is interceding with us.

Now, sometimes, sometimes if I am asking something that is not the will of God, the Holy Spirit can talk to me. I often do the illustration I think of about that and I lost my fingers and my sister in Michigan I was in Chicago at the moment and she began to pray Lord to help them attach his fingers to be able to put it back on and the Holy Spirit said no they are not going to be able to put it back on and so she changed her prayer she started praying for grace for me when they told me they could not put it back on the Spirit of God.

So when you go to prayer the Spirit of God it intercedes with us so it talks to us not all that but it it it talks to the Father, sometimes with groanings, which cannot be uttered. Friend, you want to talk about a great prayer warrior. It is the Spirit of God.

And He is praying with you. You are not praying alone. That is why you can be so—you do not realize the power you have in prayer. It moves Jesus. The Holy Spirit is interceding with you. And it is to move the Father to get involved in this world. By the way, that is what we need. Prayer. The Spirit of God begins to move and work and intercede.

We have some members of our church that they needed some things done to the Social Security Department. And Brother Richard, there he is. I said, where did they go? He is invisible. There he is. He is in the PA booth. Brother Richard, he works for the government, whatnot, in that department. And he does not do it directly with that, but he has some people that do. And he will call, he has helped some of our people greatly and expedited getting them the Social Security benefits.

Now, that is some of our members. They needed some VA assistance, and they do not know how to do all that. And so they went to a VA representative that represents the veterans and veterans representative. And they have helped them. And they say, I really did not have to do that much because they did all the work. And that is what the Spirit of God, he assists you. He is your prayer partner. He wants to help you.

When you go to God in prayer, friend, it is so much it is happening in the spirit of God gets involved. And he wants to help you. He is interceding for you. I am saying you can accomplish so much in prayer.

Your prayer life is so much more valuable than you think. The devil will try to downplay your prayer life. Do not listen to him, friend. He is a liar. He does not mind you working all day as long as you do not get God working. That is what he does not want. Prayer.

You come to the throne of grace, God the Father, he says, my throne, when my people are coming to me, is not a throne of justice, it is a throne of grace. Jesus is on the right hand of the Father interceding for us. The Spirit of God is with you interceding for us.

And then, friend, you had that manual just like me when I was working on my truck, man, I was like, what in the world do I do with that right there? Oil pressure sending unit where in the world is that? Well, the index says that is on page 47. Looking at page 40s, it is where in the world is the oil sending pressure unit? I do not know where that crazy thing is on this vehicle, and it told me all.

And same thing with you in prayer. God has given us a manual with so many thousands of promises all in it. Someone said there are 3,000 promises in the Bible. Somebody said, no, I have counted in the Bible. There are 3,547. And I remember, 73. My honest, simple truth is this is innumerable because the time you think you got them all, the Holy Spirit shows you another one.

They are all in there, friend. So when I go and I am trying to accomplish something, I got Jesus interceding for them. I got the Holy Spirit. I got the Bible, the promises, the manual. Many a time I meet with John Fontaine. Years, for years, we would do it, and we would have prayer meeting. Not always, but typically on the Saturday, we pray over here.

And one thing we would do before we pray is, hey, Brother Fontaine, you got a prayer promise? And his typical one was Jeremiah 3:3: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee and show the great mighty things we will know us not.” We go to prayer and God and begin to ask God and, hey, Lord, you said we can call, you will answer, and Lord we are calling. And God likes that.

The devil comes along and says, oh, you got some sin. By the way, the devil knows the Bible. You know that? Jesus said, “It is written, it is written, it is written,” but Satan also used the Bible over there, Matthew 4, too. You know that? And the devil comes and says, well, if I regard to the iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. That is Psalm 66:18, that is the Bible. And he will condemn you. It condemns you to God and to yourself too.

But you know what? Jesus used the Bible right back. You say what the Bible says, if we confess our sins, it is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. And Lord, you said, I have confessed that. God says, that is right. That is in the manual right there. You have so much power in prayer.

Everybody’s going to be convinced that some, you know, a person did this and the honest, simple truth is it is going to be someone that is in the throne room and the most holy place that is covered up by everything. It is in secret. That is where victory is won, friend. Some widow, some widower is praying. I hope somehow I can convince you how much God would like to do if we just come to Him in prayer over and over and over again, over and over again. Prayer.

You say, well, I am not even saved. Well, God promises in His word you ask, you will save you.

When I met, we met with at the time, not now, but at the time, the head honcho of the development and whatnot of Smyrna. I had studied before we bought it. We had really studied out that property’s zoned C2. And you cannot stop a house of worship from being built in a zone C2. In fact, you know, we looked it up, the municipal codes and all that and all of that, but we called the city. I met with some of them, and I said, well, can I get a letter about that? And they sent me a letter. I think I could find it in my desk still. Because I wanted it in print. We are going to buy this thing. I want to make sure we can build there. So we had, we had it.

And with that meeting, man, we had, hey, we can build there. And we have a letter to from our Heavenly Father. “Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.” Here is the amazing thing. “For everyone that asketh, receiveth. And he that seeketh, findeth. And to him that knocketh, it shall be opened unto him.” Matthew 7:7 and 8. Shocking what God will give when God’s people just pray.

Make much of prayer. Those that have accomplished the most in their—you check it out—you check out the great Christians of history have been people that have emphasized prayer. Some have been intelligent, some have been kind of ignorant, some have been very funny, some have been dull as a haircut and boring. But you check about those that have accomplished much for the Lord have been men and women that emphasize prayer.

Sometimes I will get called up so much doing, wanting to do for the Lord that I am not trying to get, and He can do about a million times more than I can do in my lifetime in one second. Prayer.
