Trusting in the name of the Lord our God

I wanted to come to you tonight and just give you a quick little update on our video prayer request that I sent out a few days ago. We were trying to raise $18,000 to do some much needed work on our church building roof, bodega, very needed. I had a brother call. This is just awesome, God, just at work. I had someone call me and said that they would do a matching of half of what’s needed. So they would give me $9,000 if we could raise the other $9,000. And so, man, that’s awesome. Now we only need half as much. I mean, so I only need $9,000 to have the other $9,000. That’s a blessing. Now, I do need some help. I’m a little bit under pressure here. So I’ve gotten to the end of February. So I got about six weeks to raise this $9,000. I haven’t had anybody contact me really and make a commitment on a certain price. If you’d like to do that, please let me know so that I can record it down. I feel like I’m under pressure to get that $9,000 raised. We really need it, amen. And so please pray about that. You folks know that Martin and I, we’ve been in the ministry for a long time. We’ve started several churches, amen. And we, the church down here is doing so good. We were growing. We had six first-time visitors this last Saturday. Had one first-time visitor tonight in church. And so the church is doing super, super good. Amen.
But we’re in difficult times, man. Chile’s a difficult country. It’s very dangerous down here. It’s a lot of crime down here. And so pray for us, pray for our safety, and please pray about giving toward that $9,000 so that we can have the full $18,000 that we need. God bless you, your missionaries in Santiago, Chile.
I want you to hear just how God’s blessing down there. And since that, they’ve had about almost 2,000 promised. So we’d like to finish that up if the Lord uses to get the $7,000. So you’d be praying. Pray, Lord, what can I do? What would you have me do on that? Excited about just having a little part of them.
Then I want to say thank you again. Many of you raised your hand this morning. You helped with the chairs. I appreciate that so very much. So many worked.
Ms. Therese was in primary church this morning, so she wasn’t here, but she really organized that, prepared, and found the right material and all those things. And a lot of people made it happen. They really did. And I appreciate everybody that worked on it, many people that are here tonight. But I thought this would be appropriate. She was over in primary church. She really headed that thing up. Let’s just let her know we appreciate it. Would you do that? We appreciate that.
Praise the Lord for people getting involved. Thank you and everybody else. We appreciate it very much. And there’s a blessing on that.
Had someone called this afternoon and say, hey, Pastor, how much did the material cost? And I said, well, it’s a little bit of money, a little chunk of money. And I told him what I thought it was. I’m thinking around $440. And I said, I think it was that. He said, well, find out the exact amount. I’ll take care of it. And praise Lord for that. That’s a blessing. So praise Lord God, God provide. Amen. Amen. Amen for that.
Then just a couple of reminders. Next Monday, not tomorrow, but the next Monday, anyone that can help us, the Bartleys are moving. Brother Don and Ms. Debbie, and anyone that can help us around 10 a.m. for hours that day. If you can help us anybody, that would be so helpful. And so just a little note, we’ll remind you of that. That would be a blessing.
Most of you think, no, but be praying for Ms. Bushal, the Bushal family. Ms. Bushal’s father, mother-in-law, excuse me, they found her this morning. She had passed. And so you pray for the Bushal family, text a little bit today. And there’s pros and constant all, but the father-in-law was in the hospital, so in some ways it was good he wasn’t there when his wife passed, but also he’d like to be there. They both have dementia and whatnot. So you pray for them. They went to the hospital today, let him know about it. I’d be praying for the Bushal family, if you would, and just continue to pray for them.
And Brother Warren’s still in the hospital. He’s about to go to rehab as soon as he can. And so you pray for him, if you would, please.
Brother David Jones, pray for him. They did find a mass in his lungs and it is cancerous. They’ll know a little bit more tomorrow. But you pray for the Joneses, if you would, please, on that. And he’s been sleeping a lot. Just just.
You’ll be praying for him if you would have talked to him a little bit this week. And then others that are recovering. If I start mentioning them, I’ll miss some. I know I will. I’ll try to get a couple of others. I can think about it. And I’ll miss some. The whole family, they’re recovering from COVID. Scott and Andrea.
Oh, just thinking of someone else, just several families. I’m Miss Juan. They’re doing better. They’re going to try to be back in church next weekend. Pray for them. A lot of folks just out sick. So continue to pray for those, if you would, please, many others. And we appreciate that.
Brother Ted. Brother Ted, he just got burdened this morning about everything, and praise the Lord, people burdened about our country and about abortion and whatnot. And he wanted to share just a testimony and a ministry in the fight against abortion. So he’s going to share with us a little bit, and then he’s going to lead some prayer for offering. So us just at the end of this, he’ll lead some prayer and we’ll have an offer. Brother Ted’s going to share with us this moment here, please. Thank you. I appreciate him. Let me share.
How many were here this morning and saw the video? Yeah, it’s powerful stuff. I’d seen it once before. And I don’t know, there’s not a lot of youth here, but when I was 17 in high school, we had a mock government class, and we tried to stop the bill from, you know, the abortion bill, I think capital punishment was the other one. And I think I was 16 or 17. And I had just kind of been made aware of what really abortion was, and so I was pretty passionate about it.
And he was talking about one, you know, just, I need one man. Well, we had two people in the whole class that stood against abortion, me and a friend of mine, and we filibustered and read Ivanhoe, if any of you remember that book. We read it from Ivanhoe to keep the bill from coming up. It came up and it passed, but I said it’s murder. And when I did, a young lady jumped up and ran out of the room. So now the whole school knew she had had an abortion. And I was threatened. They were going to slash my tires, all that kind of stuff.
So what I want to say, the youth is, you know, even at 16 or 17, how old it was, you have to stand against that. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to stand against it because years later, maybe three or four after high school, her name was Tori. She came up to me, and I thought, oh, here we go. She walks real deliberately up to me, and she punched me in the chest with her finger, like, hey, you were right when she got married and decided they decided to have a kid she had scar tissue and that kind of thing and and I told her I said I wasn’t right I was just repeating what I knew was right so we need to remember that when we battle we’re not battling alone but but any rate so so be bold young people and stand up you know
And so for the rest of the congregation anybody knows Scott Hoard he used to pastor he’s retired now so that he can go down to Planned Parenthood during the day. I work so I can’t go. But they stand there at Planned Parenthood. They pray with these women and girls and talk to them. And they have, as of today, I talked to my daughter earlier, and she said 362 babies they have saved. Talk those women out of killing.
And so if you get on Facebook and look up Scott Hord, it’s H-O-R-D, Ministries or Scott Horde, he’s the point man. And so if anybody here wants to be the hands, you’ll really get involved, you can go down there and talk to these women and, you know, pray with them and try to convince them that’s the wrong thing to do. So just if you forget that name, just come to me and then we can get, you know, truly involved in saving these young babies and they and they walk through life with these kids some of these kids are this big now and they go to church with them and you know these you know so that’s you know I just wanted to share that with y’all and let y’all know those who can be involved during the day it’s an amazing ministry so
And I’m going to pray for our offering. Thank you, Lord, that we have such a wonderful church that wants to be your hand and feet in every way. And I just pray, Lord, that you’ll take this offering and you know where it needs to be applied and just help us to give from our hearts and just bless us the service. And we’re so thankful, Lord, you have saved us and given us the opportunity to hear the truth in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Great song there. Great song. It’s got a great little rhythm or melody to it. I like it. Praise Lord for. Thank you for leading us in it. Psalms chapter number 20, if you would, please. Psalms chapter number 20 in God’s word. Isn’t it good just to be in church? It didn’t it be good? It’s just great. And the way it ought to be. Praise the Lord, just good to be with God’s people, God’s house. Praise the Lord, we have heat. It’s not quite as needed as it’s been, but we’re still glad to have it. But I’m glad to be in church of God’s people. What a blessing it is. And we’re not in the fight alone. Amen. It’s encouraged, but God’s been so good to us.
Psalms chapter number 20 in God’s word tonight. If you’re there, would you say amen? And if you hadn’t found it yet, say, oh, me. I got a couple of those. And after a while, if you hadn’t found it yet, just look like you got it. We’ll never know the difference. And just don’t hold your Bible upside down. Amen, we’ll be all right then, you know. Psalm chapter number 20. We’re going to read this whole chapter. It’s 150 verses. No one’s only nine verses. We’re all right now, you know. I’ve got some people nervous all of a sudden there, you know. Nine verses, so we’re all right on that.
And David is the one that God used to pin it. Now, David was a warrior. He fought many a battle. And for me, it helps me a little bit just to think about a warrior. He’s been in many battles. And God using him to pin this. It might help it just kind of get the gist of a little bit. But, uh, try to comprehend, try to stick with it, if you would, as we read through it.
Psalms 20, we’re going to start, of course, verse number one. Would you stand, please, as we read God’s word together, and just trying to show it respect if you’re able to. Psalms 20 and verse number one.
Thank you about this, warrior. God used a warrior to write it. Here we go. The Lord, hear thee in the day of trouble. The name of the God of Jacob defend thee.
Some say this, I’m sorry, I meant to say this earlier, but some say this. I don’t know that it’s true. I really don’t. I’m not dogmatic about it. Some say that the children of Israel would pray for King David, and the first five verses is part of their prayer for David often. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it might add a little bit to it as we’ll read it. I’m sorry, we’ll start back over. The Lord, hear thee in the day of trouble, the name of the God of Jacob defend thee. Send thee help from the sanctuary. That’s the Lord. Strengthen thee out of Zion. Remember all thy offerings and accept thy burnt sacrifice, Celah. Now that Celah, just think on this. Think about it. Dwell on a little bit. Grant thee according to thine own heart and fulfill all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation. And in the name of our God, we will set up our banners. The Lord fulfill all thy petitions. Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed. He will hear from His holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They’re brought down, talking about the horses and chariots. They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen. Stand upright. Save, Lord. Let the king hear us when we call.
We’re going to focus on that verse number seven there. Would you read that verse out loud with me? Some of you may know it by heart, a great verse. Would you read it out loud? Here we go. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord, our God.
Would you pray with me that the Lord would just grow us all, myself too, in this matter of trusting, just resting and trusting in the Lord? Would you do that? Father, I’m just as in need, Lord, maybe more of growing. I would like to grow. All of us, would you grow us all in this area of trusting and resting and kind of relaxing in your arms? Father, give us a vision of being more people that just trust in you in everything all the time. Lord, you just give us your sweet confidence and your peace, and, Lord, your ability to trust in you. And, Father, I think about that song, “Oh, for grace to trust you more.” Lord, would you give us grace to trust you more tonight? And we’ll thank you and, Brad, when you and praise you for what you do, Lord. It’s in Jesus’ name we ask. Amen. Thank you so much for standing. You may be seated.
Chariots and horses, that was their most formidable weapon at that time. That would be like, oh, a tank or an armored car, or maybe more advanced, maybe a Black Hawk helicopter coming in. You’re out there fighting or a jet, fighter jet flying over and got all the arsenal whatnot. I mean, just these horses and chariots, it was the bomb.com back of the day.
You realize how tall and powerful and strong horses all could just trample over a man. And imagine you’re in hand-to-hand combat, about to go into a battle, and you see a horse, man, and just, man, you know, this thing’s massive and powerful, much stronger than a man, and horses are coming, whether before you’re against you, just the magnitude of hearing these horses and their hoofs and their power and their mind and their magic, wow. And then these chariots, that was… That was such a military power, chariots were.
They had what they’re called, and I have a hard time pronouncing it, scythed chariots, they’d often call it. They on their sides, a lot of times in the middle of their wheel and the axle, they would have blades like sword blades coming out sometimes a couple feet long. Cyrus, over there of Persia. They say he used many of those, and they say when he was having those chariots built, and he’s seen those knives coming out on the side that often he said, hey, we don’t need an artillery man or a fighting man in those chariots. The chariots are powerful enough. We just need awesome chariot drivers.
And they just run those chariots through the enemies, and just those chariots would trample over men, and the sword sticking out on the side would just kill, wipe out men. So we just need, and they would be covered with mail and protection of the chariot. They would just have chariot drivers, just drive over the enemies. And that was part of his plan. Very powerful. And can you imagine if you’re doing hand-to-hand combat, and you’re about to go into it and you see these massive horses and these chariots that are just, I mean, that was the most powerful military weapon they had. Impressive, to say the least, and unstoppable many thought.
And just as you see these horses and chariots and their power and you can hear them and you see the swords on the side of them, the knives and their… You know, maybe it’s your turn, the sun like glist, and it’s just impressive to the eye. And some would say, man, that’s what I’m relying on. That’s it right there. I mean, it’s truly by the human eye, impressive. But some saw the spiritual eye.
And they saw past the physical impressiveness. They saw past the best the world had to offer. And they saw past what human man can do. And they saw the eyes of faith. And they saw the unseen, mighty hand of God.
And those people, they said, hey, some trust in those horses and some trust in those chariots. But as for me, I’m going to trust in the name of the Lord. That’s Jehovah. Our God is or wasn’t known for their horses and chariots per se. And they’re saying, hey, I’m not going to trust in all that thing that’s just impressive to the world. I’m going to trust in God’s hand. It’s wonderful. God’s mighty people that have just trusted, not in physical, not in worldly measures, not in the worldly philosophy, not in all the world has, but they see beyond that and they see the hand of God.
Frank, can I say this? There’s security in saying some trusted chariots, some in horses. But I ain’t going there, friend. I’m trusting in the name of the Lord. There’s security there. You see, when it comes to horses and chariots or the world’s means, there’s always, there’s always pretty soon something bigger and better coming out. I mean, the upgraded scythed chariot. And a little bit better, stronger, more mightier horses. And a little bit better philosophy. And others have the worldly measures. And there’s really no security.
Because you always got the back of your head, well, what are they going to have? And how many are their weapons? And what all are they going to, what philosophy they’re going to come up with? But, friend, if you’re trusting in the hand of God, nothing, nobody is as mighty as God. There’s security there. There’s peace there. There’s rest there. I can put it in his hands and leave it there. And if the devil comes along and picks it up and brings it back to your head, say, devil, I’m just going to put it back in his hand again. There’s peace.
Oh, for us to learn the peace of trusting. No, I’m not going to fall for that. Yes, that’s impressive. That’s mighty what all they have to offer out there. But I got something better. I’m trusting of the Lord. I love this verse. Purpose 21, 30, and 31. There’s no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord. The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord.
You know, those that have done mighty things for God, are those that have learned to trust just in the Lord. Which will go over in 1st Samuel chapter number 17. This is a chapter when little shepherd boy David, he goes against the giant Goliath. And Goliath was about nine feet, six inches tall, the best we can figure by cubits. These side walls of this auditorium are 10 feet tall. And can you imagine Goliath was just, just shy of the top of that wall?
Can you imagine this little shepherd boy, seven-year-old boy or so, teenage boy, fighting against this? And I don’t think he was a tall, skinny man. I mean, you find out how much his armor weighed. You thought, okay, he couldn’t be a skinny, mini bean pole. He hadn’t had to have a little meat on his bones. You don’t talk about him. He just wasn’t tall. He was big and a mighty warrior. A little bitty, David’s going to go fight against him.
And I love what David says. But you look in verse number 37, excuse me, 1st Samuel 17. Look in verse number 37, if you would, please. David said moreover, he’s talking to here to them, trying to let him go fight the battle of Saul and then. And David said, moreover, the Lord that delivered me out of the pole of the lion, now the pole of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said, and did David go and the Lord be with him.
Now I like it, David went there saying, not trusting in his weapons, not trusting in his power, his might, and what all he has. He wasn’t even trusting in his past victories. He was saying God brought those victories. And he said, I’m trusting in the Lord. I like that.
Would you look down in verse number 45, verse number 45? This is when David and Goliath are mouthing off at each other before the fight. You know, they’re running towards each other. Verse number 45. Then set David to the Philistine, thou comest to me with the sword and with the spear and with the shield. But I come to thee with all of my practice in this little sling here. Is that what it says?
No, he said, but I come to thee in the name of the Lord, of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast to find. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand. And I will smite thee and take the head from thee. And I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day into the fowls of the air and to the wild beast of the earth that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all of the assembly shall know that the Lord saith, not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s. And he will give you into our hands.
Now I love this. You can check it out later on. But I love this, Goliath never even got a sword out of his sheath. David’s the one that pulled his sword out. He used it to cut his head off, cry his head off, but he never got. Hey friend, those that have done mighty things for God, those are the people that learned to trust.
You’re well, they’re well, I trust the Lord, but there’s another thing to fully trust, even in the clutch of the moment, even in the heat of the battle, even when the chips are down, trusting. Yes, that’s impressive. Yes, wow, I can hear the hoofs and I can see the church, I can hear the clanking of it, I can see their swords singing out. Yes, that’s impressive, but friend, I’m going to trust in the Lord. Oh, those are the people God use greatly. Trusting fully in the Lord.
It’s been a good while ago. I don’t know, maybe years ago, but me and Dixie went out one morning for a walk, and we go out behind her house, and there’s some horse pastures. And then it crossed about old 20 feet, 30 feet of just bushes and briars, got a little trail through there. And then there’s a little fence there, and you cross over the fence, and there’s 100 acres, right? Beautiful. And they’re building houses on that 100 acres. And so I’ve been slowly planting dynamite in that field. No, I haven’t been doing that. But maybe the section that we go into often, the Lord’s going to preserve it and keep it just woods. I sure hope so. But anyway, we went there, and there’s no trees that 100 acres. It’s a beautiful field. They used to farm it. And Dixie loves to go for those morning walks. I mean, she just loves it, you know.
And she’ll go out in those fields and she’ll get on some trail. Some, unfortunately, ladies don’t listen to some rabbit. She’s called a few. That’s not good. I don’t like what she does. But, you know, she’ll get on a trail of a rabbit or who knows a field mice or something. And she’ll have her nose down and she’ll just, she’ll be going. Now, here’s the thing she really loves to chase. There’s often deer out there. And once I see skunk. Unfortunately, every once in a while you see skunk out that. That’s never a good day, amen. I can’t pray when there’s a skunk around, amen. Time to go back home, you know. I mean, who can pray when you got your mind? I don’t want to get sprayed, you know.
But this morning, she was on some trail, and we crossed over to the field, and as you cross over the field, you look over to the right down just a little ways. There was a group of deer. Now, I can’t remember three or four, five, six, maybe a lot of deer out there. There’s deer out there. Now, Dixie, that was her favorite thing to chase. I mean, if she’s seen deer, I’ve seen her many a time. You know, a deer will come running across the field there somewhere and give it about two minutes and then Dixie will be, you know, she loves to chase the deer. I think the deer kind of enjoyed after a while. They know that dog’s not going to do anything. They can’t get us. I think if Dixie ever did get the deer to stop and she wouldn’t know what to do with her, they’re bigger than her. But that’s her favorite thing to chase.
But here’s the thing. That morning, she had her nose to the ground. Who knows what she had a trail of, maybe a skunk, who knows, or a field mice or something. And I was trying to say, Dixie, look up. I mean, there’s a whole host of deer down there. And get your eyes off all this. I mean, you’re so stuck on this field mice or whatever it was. And you look up, Dixie. There’s the big ones that. There’s the big, there’s deer down there. She never saw them. Never saw them.
And it’s sad when I get stuck on all this earthly things. And the horses and the chariots and all the world has to offer. My problems, all the rest of that. And I think the Holy Spirit says, Paul, would you look up? You’ve got something better to look at. You’ve got something better to trust you. There’s security there.
Friend, it doesn’t matter what your need is. He’s got the answer to it. You say, I’m worried about tomorrow. Hey, friend, I know who holds the tomorrow in his hands. Friend, it doesn’t matter if it’s physical, financial, whatever it may be. Hey, listen, he’s an omnipotent, all-powerful God. Some trust in church, some in horses. But as for us, we’re going to trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Hey, there’s some good sleep on that right there. Security there. Would you notice just a couple of the things real quickly? I hope Lord just gives us a vision of just resting in the Lord. There’s peace there.
Would you look at just another part of that verse there? Verse number seven, if you would, in Psalms 20, verse number seven there. He said, some trust in chariots and some in horses. But what’s the next word? We, plural. We will remember the name of the Lord our God.
Isn’t it wonderful to have been a good church family? Praise the Lord. We’ve got a great church family. I love it. I’m so thankful. God’s given us just wonderful people. I mean that, really. Just great people. And it’s great to remember the name of Lord with God’s people, the community. It’s a fellowship. So many times, I mean, before service really even starts, I’m encouraged just by being around God’s people. But we will remember. It’s such a blessing to have a group of people that should trust in the Lord. You remember his name. He got it’s a wonderful thing. I love it. And so encouraging.
Just thinking about some conversations as of late a man. He was telling him, boy, how he’s met with. God’s really met with him, and he needed something. God just met with him. That’s encouraging to hear. I love it. Praise a little forward. I think about someone else recently. They said, hey, I’ve been fasted a little bit. And God answered my prayer. That’s encouraging to hear. I mean, just, it’s wonderful. But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
So it might be in a church family remembering together, being with God’s people. It’s a wonderful thing. So a man was missing church, and I know I’m preaching to the choir tonight about this thing, but praise Lord you’re here on a Sunday night, but a man was missing church and had been out for a bit, you know, and the pastor went by to visit back in the day. And it was wintertime, and he had his fireplace going, you know. And the pastor said, do you mind if I mess with your fire a little bit? And the guy said, sure, they had pulled up a chair just sitting around the fire. And the pastor went up and took those tongs, and he took one log, and he separated, pulled it out, and he put it on the hearth there, you know. And it was brick and all that and wouldn’t hurt anything. And he just said it there, and they went on talking. And pretty soon while they’re talking, that one log, the fire just kept burning strong, but that one log died out. And they talked for a while, and the pastor said, well, I bet you’re wondering why I pulled that one log out. And the man said, no, I know why you pulled it out, pastor.
And that’s got to cross real good. I’ll be in church Sunday. Friend, you can be saved. You’re still going to always be saved. But you separate yourself from the family of God, and that fire dies. Part of God’s plan is you being with God’s people in God’s house. But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
Some, some will spend more time fellowshiping all that than others, but we all need some, friend. We’re all. We need that. Can I say this about we will remember? It’s a wonderful thing for a husband and wife, especially during tough times, a husband and wife, just to sit down and say, hey, let’s together, let’s remember the name of the Lord.
Every couple that ever got married in the universe for all time, they didn’t have any money when they’re newlywed couples. You know what to talk about? I mean, there’s a few, but that’s for the most part. That’s it, you know, and you were there. And you had that car. We had one of those cars for a while. You know, in newlyweds, you had to go out there every once in a while and wouldn’t crank and put the screwdriver on the starter and get those two wires. How many you know what are told me? Yeah. It’s a shame for, you know, you have to tell your newly wedded bride. All right, babe. Here’s to get the screwdriver if it happens when you’re out. And you put it right there, you know. And praise the Lord of God, a good wife you put up a lot. But you’ve been there too.
And it’s good for a husband and wife. So remember how God took care of us? Remember what God did for us? Remember when we had that sickness, we didn’t think we were going to make it, and God took care of this. Remember when this kid came and this and that, and it’s just wonderful for a husband and wife instead of kind of, and it’s so easy for us to when you’re down and problems, they kind of start pointing your finger at, blame, and get mad at each other. It’s wonderful for a husband and wife, say, hey, we will remember.
Hey, babe, let’s just remember what all God’s done for us. Let’s remember the Lord. I mean, start sharing when God’s been so good to you. And something about it, sometimes it just kind of builds because you’re telling them and that’ll bring up something in their mind and they’ll tell you this and all I forgot about that. It brings the sweetness to a marriage. But we will remember. It’s an awesome thing for a couple just to just to sit down and remember.
We probably don’t look like we ought, but sometimes we’ll just remember. Tammy will remember kind of her side, and I remember my side, and she’ll usually remember. Tammy often remembers this because God used her so much in it, but we needed some money to pay for a school bill. Our kids and our kids are Christian school. And we were behind in that, and we got to be a good testimony, you know. We’ve got to pay her bills. And Miss Tammy went to a yard sale. Praise the Lord for a wife that go to yard sale. Somebody say, me right there, you know.
And she found these little controllers. We didn’t even know what they were. She had to look online what they were. And she bought these little controllers for a little of nothing. I don’t know what it was. And engineers used them often. And it was back when Facebook, not Facebook, but Craigslist was the way to go back then before all the scams and all that. And she took those controllers, bought them for a little nothing and sold them for $800-something on Craigslist. Praise you, Lord. We paid her school bill.
And we’ll just start sharing. You’ve got stories like that. How many of you, how many, how many of you, God has used someone hitting you in a vehicle accident for you to pay some bill? How many of everybody, yeah, come, come, yeah, yeah. You’ve got stories just like we’ve got stories. Yeah, in so many unique ways of God. And just when that husband and wife, they start remembering. But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
And so, well, I’m a widow, widower, or whatnot. I’m not married anymore. I’m not married anymore. Okay, find a godly friend. Get a friend. That’s part of the church family. But we will remember the name of the Lord. It’s special. And he’s using that plural word. By the way, it’s so good for families. Families get your children even hey grandma grandpa you’re going to tell something to store to those grandkids anyway you might as well tell them about what god’s done for you.
And by the way, Kevin and Cherise, their granddaughter was due Friday, something like that. You pray for them. They’ve been, they’re battling and worrying, amen, by living off by faith. I’m joking they’re not, but excited for them. Would you look over in Psalm 78? Psalm 78, if you would, please. Psalm 78. You just talking about this, your family, but we will remember the name of the Lord.
Psalm 78 and wonderful Psalm here. And once you look down, would you please? We’ll just start in verse number one. We’ll read a couple of verses here. Psalm 78, when you find that, would you say? Amen. Psalm 78 verse abhor. Give ear, oh, my people, to my law. Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old. Which we have heard and known, and our fathers, that’s the prior generation. Our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord and his strength and his wonderful works that he has done.
Notice that to the future generation. You tell them the wonderful works God’s done for you. For he establisheth a testimony in Jacob and appointed the law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers that they should make known to their children that the generation to come might know them even the children which should be born who should arise and declare them to their children. Did you notice that? Okay, our fathers told us what all God did for them is one of the thing to hear. Then they told it to the children and to their children and they’re going to tell it one day to the next generation.
We will remember the name of the Lord our God. It’s a wonderful thing. You get your family together. Hey, so let’s just start remembering what God’s done. Let’s remember the Lord. We’ve not had the best spirit around the house here lately. Just think about the devil’s trying to get us a little bit. Hey, let’s get our eyes back on the Lord. Let’s sit down. Let’s just start thinking about it, what all God’s done. Let’s remember the name.
Yeah, they can trust in those chariots. They look good on the outside, but we’re seeing with the eyes of faith beyond that. We’re looking up. I was talking about the Warren yesterday. What a testimony, Brother Warren is. Most of you know, Brother Warren, living in a camper, just him and his dog, he’s got cancer, he got bladder cancer, he’s in the hospital, and in the hospital, in and out for a good while now. And he’s trying to get his blood pressure right so he can go to rehab, get strong enough to get out. I keep teasing with him and goes to rehab, there’s going to be a drill instructor over there, you know. He said, I can handle those drill instructors. He’s, you know, he’s all about it.
Towards the end the conversation, I think it was yesterday. I was just, just, he’s a testimony to me, puts me to shame. But, but, but, but, towards the end of the conversation, he said, well, he said, yeah, my roommate’s saved. He was talking about witnessing, pray Lord, he’s witnessing the hospital. He said, my roommate saved. He said, the one before said they were saved, and maybe they were, I don’t know. He said, boy, they played the TV, he’s so loud. They’re playing it all the time loud. He said, I can’t hardly hear. I can still hear that thing in the middle of the night, you know.
And then something kind of clicked. And he said, but you know, pastor? I’m not hurting anywhere. He said, you know, they’re good to me in the hospital. Treat me good. Said they got good food. They’re always taking care of me. The kennel his dog is in. They’ve been so good. They said, hey, go to rehab. We’ve got all that. Don’t worry about your bill. Don’t worry about that.
God’s taking care of him. He said, Don, the people at the camper place, they’re taking care of my camper when I’m in here, all the cold. He said, why in the world? He said, I’m just trusted the Lord. And he started talking about how he’s trusting the Lord. He said, why shouldn’t he’s taking care of everything?
I was amazed. I was thinking about this message, so I tried to listen and remember it. I won’t get everything right. But he said, I’m not going to get into that worry and fear. He said, that’d be foolishness. For me to not trust in the Lord after he’s just, he said, I’m in here. They’re doing everything for me. He used that word of foolishness about fretting and worrying. I ain’t going to go on that foolishness. I’m going to trust the Lord. I’ll praise the Lord.
Some are trusted in chariots. You can see them all over in our day and down. Some and horses. But we remember the name of the Lord, our God.
Would you bow your heads and close your eyes, please? Would you remember his name? Would you spend time tonight? It’d be great to come to an old-fashioned altar, just remember. It’d be good maybe for a family, a husband and a wife, maybe children. We’re going to remember the name of the Lord. Would you do that tonight? Would you trust him? I’m not there like I’d like to be, but it’s a wonderful security to just say, you know, I’m trusting the Lord. He’s got it. He’s got it.
Would you stand? Would you come? We’re going to pray. Would you come? It’d be great just for us. Lord, we’re going to remember the name. It’ll be a great time tonight for families and individuals and friends. Remember the name of the Lord. Father, thank you. You’ve got all the security, everything we need. Forgive me, sometimes a worried fret. You’ve got it all, Lord. Help us to put this into practice. Father, help us to have that on purpose. They can trust in chariots and horses, but we’re going to remember the name of the Lord, our God. Help us to do so, Father. Bless the invitation, helps us to trust and remember you in Jesus. And we pray, amen. Would you come just spend some time remembering it? Would you do so? To Jesus.
Satan is always going to have about a thousand things. He wants you to contemplate and worry about it and fear over. But your choice, look, we’re going to remember. We’re going to remember the name of the Lord, our God. There’s security, there’s peace, there’s joy there. Who so trusteth in the Lord, happy, happy, you see.
Would you just trust him? Remember his name. Would you do that?
